About SD Challenge

SD challenge has been created by the media sub-group of the 2005 Young Managers Team (YMT) of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) in collaboration with SimpleThinking

For some people sustainable development remains an obscure subject with confusing language and contradictory opinions. Our aim was to create something that would help others, whatever their background, to understand the concepts behind the theory and to illustrate some of the difficult choices that sustainable development presents for the business community.

If you’ve never come across the term before we also hope that SD challenge will encourage you to learn more about the issues and to get involved in some way to help find the solutions that are so desperately needed.

The YMT 2005

The Young Managers Team (YMT) is a program designed to provide a great learning experience and networking opportunity for around twenty young, high potential WBCSD member company employees, interested in sustainable development, and drawn from across a range of job functions. The team works together for one year on a specific theme. In 2005 the team looked at how sustainable development could move from the specialist box to the mainstream. As a large group the YMT sub-divided into three separate work stream focusing on education, finance and media as specific audiences and channels that could help to bring sustainability into the mainstream.
